Project Overview

Fairtex executed pre-commissioning and commissioning support activities for nitrogen generators and SPX flow dryer systems as part of the BRT HP Flare Replacement project for Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited at Bonny Island operations. The scope covered system verification, installation support, mechanical readiness checks, utility integration, and operational testing activities required for controlled system startup.

The project involved coordinated commissioning activities across process utility equipment associated with nitrogen generation and air treatment systems supporting operational process reliability within the facility.

The Challenge

The commissioning scope required execution within an active hydrocarbon processing environment where operational continuity, system integrity, and controlled startup sequencing were critical. Integration of nitrogen generation systems and SPX flow dryer units demanded coordinated verification of instrumentation, piping interfaces, process connectivity, and utility dependencies prior to startup activities.

Visible site conditions included packaged process utility systems, pressure vessels, instrumentation panels, process piping, and technician-led verification activities requiring controlled commissioning procedures and multidisciplinary coordination.

The project also required adherence to strict permit-to-work systems, commissioning isolation controls, and phased energization procedures while operating within brownfield process conditions.

Execution activities were coordinated under controlled commissioning procedures to support safe startup readiness and verification of nitrogen generation and air treatment system functionality.

Our Approach

Fairtex implemented a structured commissioning methodology covering equipment inspection, mechanical completion verification, instrumentation checks, utility confirmation, pressure integrity review, and phased startup support for the nitrogen generators and SPX flow dryer systems.

The execution strategy incorporated multidisciplinary coordination between commissioning personnel, operations representatives, instrumentation technicians, and mechanical teams to ensure readiness prior to live system introduction.

Field personnel conducted installation verification, flange and connection inspections, equipment alignment review, control panel checks, and operational readiness assessments before progressing into functional testing and commissioning activities.

Phased Delivery

Mechanical Completion Review

Installed equipment, piping systems, instrumentation interfaces, and associated components were inspected to verify readiness for pre-commissioning activities and commissioning progression.

Pre-Commissioning Activities

Pre-commissioning activities included line verification, connection checks, utility confirmation, instrumentation inspection, pressure readiness review, and system preparation for startup operations.

Commissioning & Functional Testing

The nitrogen generators and SPX flow dryer systems underwent phased startup and operational verification activities to confirm functionality, process response, and equipment integration performance under controlled commissioning conditions.

Operational Integration

Commissioned systems were integrated into operational process infrastructure following verification of equipment response, system stability, and readiness for routine operational service.

Outcome

The completed commissioning program supported operational readiness of the nitrogen generation and air treatment systems associated with the BRT HP Flare Replacement scope. The intervention contributed to controlled startup execution, process utility reliability, and improved system integration assurance within the operating facility.

The project was completed through coordinated commissioning management, field verification activities, and phased execution aligned with facility operational and safety requirements.
